Why I have signed up to the Seven Summits Challenge

Our Seven Summits Challenge takes place on Saturday 17 July. We have a great team of walkers signed up! This is the perfect urban challenge.

You will discover hidden routes through Scotland’s beautiful capital city, enjoy views from seven of it’s surrounding hills including an extinct volcano!

Rachael explains why she has signed up

Our supporter Rachael signed up to the Seven Summits Challenge with her friends Hayley and Courtney.

They have been doing lots of amazing training walks together.

We spoke to Rachael about what they are looking forward to and how they will celebrate after!

She said: “I signed up for the Seven Summit challenge to help raise money for an amazing charity.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy last year, at the time I didn’t know anyone with epilepsy, or all that much about it.

Over the last year, I’ve realised how many people are living with epilepsy which encouraged me to help raise awareness and fundraise to help support the work of Epilepsy Scotland.

When I told my best friends about the challenge, they said they couldn’t let me do it alone. To train, we have been going out walks together (I even dragged them up the Conic Hill in the pouring rain for my birthday in February).

My favourite spots in Scotland are the hills and summits surrounding Loch Lomond and the beautiful lochs. Such as, Ben Ann, the Cobbler and Ben Lomond… the views are always so gorgeous!

To celebrate after our challenge myself and the girls will probably have a cocktail (or two). We can’t wait to challenge ourselves while seeing some beautiful spots in Scotland, all for such a fabulous cause!”
