Splits in Six Challenge Supporter Terms & Conditions
Thank you for signing up to the Splits in Six Challenge for Epilepsy Scotland. We’re really glad you’re here! Your participation and fundraising make a real difference to people living with epilepsy across Scotland.
We want your experience to be enjoyable, safe, and successful. Please take a moment to read through the following before you get started and COMPLETE THE FINAL SECTION TO OFFICIALLY BE REGISTERED.
1. The Challenge
Splits in Six is Epilepsy Scotland’s 6-month guided flexibility challenge. Starting during National Epilepsy Week on 18th May, participants follow a structured stretching programme with the goal of achieving the splits: front split, pancake, middle split, or all three if you’re feeling ambitious! No flexibility or fitness experience is required.
Throughout the 6 months, we’ll be supporting you with:
- A structured six-month flexibility plan with three focused sessions per week plus a short daily movement practice
- Expert guidance and instructional video content from your dedicated coach, Andrew Cameron (4th-degree black belt and Head Instructor at Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts Centre, Glasgow)
- Weekly WhatsApp messages with motivation, tips, stretch targets and updates
- Optional monthly live group stretch sessions
2. Who Can Take Part
The challenge is open to everyone! Just a couple of things to bear in mind:
- Participants under 18 must have the consent of a parent or guardian.
- If you have any health concerns, please speak to your doctor before signing up.
- By registering, you confirm that you are fit and well enough to take on a challenge of this kind.
3. Fundraising
We suggest a fundraising target of £100 per participant, though we encourage you to be ambitious!
- All sponsorship should be collected through your personal JustGiving fundraising page.
- Please set up your fundraising page before you start sharing with friends and family.
- Epilepsy Scotland is a registered charity, so your donors may be able to Gift Aid their donation, boosting its value by 25% at no extra cost to them.
- All fundraising must be carried out honestly and in a way that reflects positively on you and Epilepsy Scotland.
- We encourage to you to pay in any sponsorship money raised periodically throughout your challenge, so that it can be put to good use sooner. Please ensure all sponsorship money reaches us within 4 weeks of completing your challenge.
4. Staying in Touch
Please make sure we have your current email address and phone number so we can support you throughout the challenge. We’ll use your contact details to keep in touch during the 6 months. After the challenge, you’re welcome to opt out at any time, and we’ll remove you from our mailing list.
For full details on how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Policy on our website.
5. Photos & Social Media
We’d love to cheer you on and celebrate your efforts! By taking part, you give us permission to share any photos or videos you post publicly about your challenge on our social media channels and in our marketing. If you’d prefer, we didn’t, just let us know. No problem at all.
6. If Things Change
Life happens, and we understand that. If you need to withdraw or adjust your challenge:
- Please let us know as soon as possible so we can update our records.
- Any sponsorship already collected should still be passed on to Epilepsy Scotland. Your donors gave in good faith, and we’d love to honour that.
- If you’re struggling, please reach out. We’d much rather support you than lose you from the challenge.
In the unlikely event that we need to make changes to the challenge programme, we’ll let you know as soon as possible. Epilepsy Scotland cannot cover any personal costs such as travel, accommodation, or equipment.
7. Safety & Liability
Your safety matters to us. Please do take care of yourself throughout the challenge. That said:
- You take part entirely at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety.
- Epilepsy Scotland cannot accept liability for any loss, damage, or injury unless caused by our own negligence.
- Please listen to your own body and never push through pain. If you experience discomfort or have any concerns during the programme, stop and seek advice from a medical professional.
Thank you. We’re with you every stretch of the way!
