Limber Up For Epilepsy!

Commit to our Splits in Six Challenge

Splits in Six is Epilepsy Scotland’s brand-new fundraising challenge. Kicking off during National Epilepsy Week on the 18th of May, commit to six months of guided stretching, and before long, you’ll be attempting to realise full Splits like an Olympic gymnast, or at least less like the stiff board you may currently be.

Your hard work and effort over the months will raise vital funds for people living with epilepsy across Scotland, whilst helping you get limber and fit.

All you have to do is register your interest to get started (we’ll follow up with you soon!)

We’re kicking off National Epilepsy Week with our silliest challenge ever, and we want you involved.

Go from barely touching your toes to attempting the Splits in six months under the careful instruction of your dedicated coach, Andrew Cameron.

We know what you’re thinking. The Splits? Really? Yes. Really. And before you click away, this challenge is designed for people exactly like you. Desk-bound by day, a little stiff, and maybe just mad enough to give something like this a go for a good cause.

Remember, it’s not meant to be easy, or people wouldn’t give you money for it!

But with regular guidance and encouragement across the months, we’ll help you reach your goal and raise funds. Choose from three different Splits to work toward: front split, pancake or middle split or go crazy and try all three!

What's Involved

Every week for six months, you’ll receive expert guidance, helpful encouragement and the occasional reality check via a dedicated WhatsApp group.

Your coach is Andrew Cameron, a 4th-degree black belt and Head Instructor at Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts Centre in Glasgow, who has spent over a decade helping adults of all ages and abilities achieve things they never thought their bodies were capable of.

You’ll follow a structured flexibility plan built for complete beginners, with three focused sessions per week plus a short daily movement practice. No gym experience needed. No baseline flexibility required. The only thing you need is the willingness to show up.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • A structured six-month flexibility plan
  • Instructional video content from Andrew
  • Weekly stretch targets
  • Optional monthly live group stretch sessions
  • Regular check-ins and encouragement
  • Tips on safe stretching and injury prevention
  • Fundraising tools and social media prompts to help you make the most of your journey

Fundraising Details

This is a fun challenge and a brilliant chance for you to get limber and in shape, but it’s also a powerful opportunity to raise big money for a great cause. We suggest a fundraising target of £100 to get you started, but feel free to be more ambitious. All you need to do is set up a JustGiving page, share your honest story as you go, and let the people cheering you on put their money where their support is.

The most effective fundraising posts won’t be the polished ones; they’ll be the ones where you tell the truth about how it’s going. The good, the bad and the hilarious! And we’ll help by prompting you with fun ideas and tips for keeping your community engaged with your journey.

 Why It Matters

Epilepsy affects around one in 100 people in Scotland. Many face stigma, isolation and a lack of understanding from the world around them. Epilepsy Scotland provides information, advocacy and real support for people and families who need it.

Every pound you raise goes directly towards that work.

This challenge exists because showing up for something hard, for six months, for people who didn’t get a choice about their own hard thing – that matters.

Ready To Give It A Go?

You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to be fit. You just need to sign up and give it a go!

Do it with friends, your family, office mates or pals from the gym, or go it alone and surprise people with your new party trick. However you do it, we’ll be there rooting for you.

All you need to do is register your interest to get started (and we’ll be in touch with you soon!)
