Returning to work as a Community and Events Fundraiser

We are delighted to welcome back our Community and Events Fundraiser, Kerry Reich from maternity leave and furlough. Kerry shares her experiences of the last 19 months and the changing times in fundraising.

Hello, I’m back with my fundraising team after a very long time away. Maternity leave followed by furlough. 19 months later and things feel very different, almost like starting a new job.

I hope everyone has been keeping well during these unsettling times. It feels so long ago now that we were able to attend events, socialise without any concerns or even just hug friends and family.

I have found it a bit of an emotional rollercoaster – for the first part I enjoyed the slower pace and being able to have more time with my little boy Cohen, but as the weeks and months continued, I hoped for a bit of normality to return.

I think September has taken us all by surprise, watching the dark nights arrive has made me feel a little sad but I still have my fingers crossed for an Indian Summer. ????

Changing times in fundraising

Fundraising has certainly changed since I finished up last year.

It looks like things will continue to be very challenging for the months ahead with all our cancelled events and restrictions in place but I’m already thinking of new ways you can get involved to help support the work of our charity so watch this space.

It might even be a good thing that we have to explore other options and freshen things up a bit. Who knew one day we would be taking part in Virtual Quiz Nights and Challenge Events! Where would we be without all this technology.

I’m very much looking forward to getting back in touch with our supporters and I would love to hear from all our past, present and future fundraisers out there so drop me an email to say hello kreich@epilepsyscotland.org.uk and we can have a chat.

I’m currently working from home with my little dog Paddy who spends most of the day sleeping at my feet or barking at the birds who are nesting outside our flat.

Stay safe and I look forward to hearing from you soon, Kerry.
