Local restaurant’s Movember campaign raises £600 for Epilepsy Scotland

Popular Giffnock restaurant the Turban Tandoori has raised £600 for Epilepsy Scotland through their participation in Movember, continuing their commitment to supporting the charity in memory of Queen’s Park FC supporter Martin Kelly.

The restaurant, a proud sponsor of Queen’s Park Football Club, was inspired to support Epilepsy Scotland after learning about the touching tribute by the Queen’s Park Supporters Association to Martin Kelly, who tragically passed away due to Sudden Unexplained Death In Epilepsy (SUDEP) nearly a decade ago.

This latest fundraising effort builds on the restaurant’s previous charitable work, including a £1,000 donation to Epilepsy Scotland last year. The funds will help support over 80,000 people living with epilepsy across Scotland.

“We would love to thank The Turban Tandoori for raising this great amount of money for Epilepsy Scotland,” said Linzi Donald, Epilepsy Scotland Community and Events Fundraiser.

“Their donations and fundraising over the years will help us continue to provide support, information and vital services for people living with epilepsy in Scotland.”

The Turban Tandoori’s support for Epilepsy Scotland emerged from the restaurant’s connection with Queen’s Park FC, whose Supporters Association has been actively fundraising for the charity since Martin’s passing.

Martin died on the morning of a supporter’s club football tournament, while he was staying at the team’s hotel, prompting the club and its supporters to champion the cause in his memory.

“Queen’s Park Football Club and the Supporters Association have been great supporters of Epilepsy Scotland, and we appreciate their continued support in helping us raise awareness of epilepsy which is a condition still misunderstood by many,” Jane Roberts, Epilepsy Scotland Fundraising Manager added.
