Epilepsy Scotland engages in a significant amount of lobbying. Lobbying is the act of seeking to influence someone on an issue. The most common bodies Epilepsy Scotland lobby are the Scottish Government, MSPs/ MPs, NHS Health boards, and local authorities.

Lobbying is key for us to ensure the voices of those with epilepsy are heard by those in decision making positions.

Epilepsy Scotland secured funding for our Welfare Rights service by lobbying the Scottish Government. Since its inception, Epilepsy Scotland’s Welfare Rights service has generated over £3million in client financial gain. Without lobbying, it is unlikely this project would have been able to start.

Anyone can engage in lobbying and it is the most effective way for your elected representative to hear your views.

We have developed a lobbying toolkit which details everything you need to know to be most effective when lobbying your MSP or MP. Getting in contact with your elected representative could mark the beginning of having your problem resolved.
