Fundraiser Focus: My walking challenge

Lauren is currently walking 500,000 steps in 56 days whilst in her third trimester of pregnancy. Here she shares why she is taking on this challenge and raising money for Epilepsy Scotland.

Lauren was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 12 and has experienced first-hand how this impacts your life.

During her pregnancy, Lauren has had her medication increased to keep seizures under control.

She has had great support throughout including regular scans and a consultant-led care plan along with regular appointments with her epilepsy nurse, neurological consultant and midwife.

Lauren has been walking 500,000 steps in 56 days, which began on 29 January and will finish on Purple Day on 26 March. Lauren will be doing this challenge in her third trimester of pregnancy.

She is enjoying keeping active throughout the last few months of her pregnancy and is excited about using it as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Epilepsy Scotland.

Lauren told us: “I have relied on the support and resources from Epilepsy Scotland more than ever, especially being pregnant during a pandemic. Without the support it would be so difficult to cope.”

We wish you all the best with the challenge and we can’t wait to meet your new little family member. Thank you Lauren! You are amazing!
