Epilepsy Scotland – Policy & Campaigns Assistant  

(Fixed term contract for 12 months)


Salary:  £22,000 - £25,000 DOE (pro rata 21 hours)

Location: Glasgow
 

In Scotland up to 55,000 people live with epilepsy. Epilepsy Scotland wants to ensure the needs of people with epilepsy are met and works to campaign for improved health and social care, better information provision, fairer access to employment and benefits, and an end to stigma. We aim to empower people with epilepsy to maximise their wellbeing and to fulfil whatever their potential might be.

This new post will help Epilepsy Scotland to expand its policy and campaigning work. The Policy & Campaigns Assistant will provide vital and varied support to the Policy & External Affairs Manager and have the opportunity to work across a wide section of the team’s remit. 

They will work closely with the Policy and External Affairs Manager to support and contribute to a variety of policy, parliamentary and campaigns work. They will engage with a number of key stakeholders, including people affected by epilepsy, to achieve this. 

They will work with members of the charity's Communications Team and Welfare Rights Service to identify trends and issues facing people with epilepsy and to develop and implement campaigns to raise awareness and tackle these issues.

Community and Event Fundraiser - Glasgow

(Fixed term 18-months)


Post Title: Community and Events Fundraiser

Salary:              £21,400 - £24,000 DOE

Location:                Epilepsy Scotland, 48 Govan Road, Glasgow G51 1JL

Reports To:          Head of Fundraising and Communications

Service (s):          Fundraising and Communications

Hours:                  35 per week

Leave:                  20 days + 12 public holidays

Term:                    18-month fixed term

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community and Event Fundraiser to join our dynamic Fundraising Team, based in our Glasgow office.  The post holder will foster links with our supporters and volunteer fundraisers, forming and maintaining links with them and offering support for their self-generated funding activities.  S/he will also plan and manage Epilepsy Scotland’s own fundraising events in the area.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of achieving fundraising targets as well as experience in Community and Event Fundraising.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with supporters and volunteers and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Welfare Rights Officer 

(Fixed Term 12-months, may be extended subject to funding)

 

Salary:                     £26,000 (pro rata, 28 hours)

We are expanding our provision of Welfare Rights support. The Welfare Rights Officer will work alongside an existing Officer to provide information, advice, practical assistance and advocacy on welfare benefits to people affected by epilepsy.  They will work closely with members of the Communications Team to contribute to the provision of welfare benefits information in a variety of formats.  They also contribute to any organisational policy work related to welfare benefits in Scotland.  The role will also involve training of colleagues, staff from other agencies and occasional presentations to external audiences.

Hours:                    35 hours per week

The Communications Officer will support the provision of information and support on epilepsy and related matters to people with epilepsy, their families, carers and professionals involved in their care and in general. 

The post holder will develop and implement a social media strategy, in line with the organisation’s vision, be responsible for website content management, writing a blog and increasing Search Engine Optimisation.  The Communications Officer will develop and implement a marketing strategy to increase awareness of the services available.  

The Communications Officer will also work closely with colleagues to identify trends and issues facing people with epilepsy and to develop and implement campaigns to raise awareness and tackle these issues.
