Epilepsy training for Employers and Employment Advisors

From the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), employers must take reasonable measures to ensure they are not discriminating against disabled people. Not everyone knows that epilepsy is protected under the Act.

Often employers have very little knowledge of epilepsy and the many forms it can take. Consequently, their awareness of health and safety in relation to epilepsy can be compromised and sometimes discrimination may occur.

Anyone can witness a seizure. Epilepsy is a condition which calls for specific training both for first aiders and for staff members. A seizure can be very frightening. Basic knowledge of the signs and of simple procedures will increase people’s confidence and ability to cope with it adequately.

We offer training aimed specifically at employers. The programme increases awareness of epilepsy and epilepsy-related issues, as well as emphasising how to manage this condition in the workplace.

If one of your staff members or one of your colleagues has epilepsy and you would like to learn more about the condition and legal aspects for DDA Act, please contact our training department on 0131 226 5458
