Scotland Wide Free Bus Pass

Over 5 and under 17 and had a seizure in the last year

To apply for a free bus pass if a young person is over 5 and under 17 you need:

  • A free bus pass application form (available by calling Epilepsy Scotland on 0808 800 2 200)
  • A letter from a GP, issued within the last 12 months confirming the young person would be refused a driving licence for medical reasons if they were old enough to drive
  • Proof of address:
    A young person may not have proof of identity (eg gas bill). Instead you will need a letter from the school or a letter from the local authority confirming the young person lives in the council area, or a child benefit letter.
  • 1 passport photograph (taken within the last year) Print your name and application reference number on the back of the photograph.

Persons from the age of 5 years, whose mobility is such that they require to be accompanied when travelling, can apply for a National Entitlement Card containing the companion entitlement (C+1).

Please be aware e ach year you will need to renew your bus pass in the same way. Do this early as it can take time to process.
