Raising Awareness

National Epilepsy Week 18 - 24 May 2008

This year's theme was raising awareness. We held the following events:

Saturday 17 – Chevaliers Pipe band raised awareness of epilepsy in Princes Street, Edinburgh

Monday 19 - We launched our new Edinburgh office with Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon

Tuesday 20 - The Joint Epilepsy Council (JEC) of the UK and Ireland had an information display in the Garden Lobby of the Scottish Parliament. We invited MSPs to find out more about epilepsy and to support our current campaign. MSPs helped to raise awareness of epilepsy and had their photograph taken with JEC members.

Wednesday 21 – JEC display in the Scottish Parliament

Thursday 22 – JEC display in the Scottish Parliament. Launch of our campaign for ‘more specialist nurses, better epilepsy care’, including a photo call for MSPs in the Garden Lobby. Thursday 22 - Epilepsy Scotland gave a presentation to the new Ayrshire and Arran Epilepsy Support Group.

Sunday 25 – Edinburgh marathon
