Raising Awareness
Education
Teachers in Scottish schools need to be able to access information on a vast range of subjects. Epilepsy is just one of these and we are keen to ensure teachers have direct access to this information.
To help improve access to information for teachers we have produced a guideline for teachers on managing epilepsy. The leaflet covers topics such as: what is epilepsy?, why does epilepsy happen?, types of seizures and first aid for dealing with seizures in school.
Importantly the guide also has a section which looks at understanding how epilepsy can affect a child’s education.
This guide was sent to every primary and secondary school in Scotland. It is one of the key ways that we are raising awareness about epilepsy in schools.
