Phased withdrawal of prescription charges

Epilepsy Scotland would have preferred the immediate scrapping of these charges but this phased move will help see an end to the current inequalities in the health care system.

Chief Executive, Susan Douglas-Scott, said: “We are pleased that Ministers have recognised that these charges are unfair.  No-one should be denied access to quality health care and that includes access to medicines.  The current system does just that; it denies access.

“The Minister’s announcement means that people with long term conditions will soon benefit from a cut in the cost of their medication.  This is good news.
