Lighthouse Support Service

Lighthouse Support Service

This support service is available in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Greater Glasgow. It is for adults, young people and children (aged 5 – 60) who require support because they have a disability including:

  • A physical disability, including acquired brain injury
  • Mental health needs
  • A learning disability

What does the service offer?

The service offers a wide range of different types of support. These include:

  • living independently
  • taking up leisure and recreation opportunities
  • finding employment, voluntary work or a college course
  • providing additional support to families and carers (including allowing time and space away)

Contact us for more information on the different types of support we can offer.

The Lighthouse Support Service is available 24 hours a day including waking night shifts and sleepovers.

How does the service work?

The Lighthouse Support Service provides one to one support from trained support workers. All of our support workers receive training about different types of epilepsy. We provide assistance that is tailored to the needs and wishes of the people who use our service. The support can include all aspects of personal care, and the administration of medication including emergency epilepsy medication.

What do people use the service for?

People use the service in different ways. Some people want support to attend a work placement or college class. Other people want support to be active in their local communities, for example attending groups, going to the cinema or making new friends.

People can be supported at home to live independently or to provide respite for themselves and/or their family. Support can also be used for short breaks away from home.
