New epilepsy drug approved in Scotland

The Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) has today released its advice on the use of a new anti-epileptic drug in Scotland.  Fycompa® (perampanel) manufactured by the drugs company Esai was given its licence earlier this year.  It has now been approved by the SMC as an adjunctive treatment for partial-onset seizures (with or without secondarily generalised seizures) in patients with epilepsy aged 12 years and older in Scotland.
