Legacies
Making a gift in your will is always a sensitive subject, but leaving a legacy to Epilepsy Scotland can help us to work for a better future for those with epilepsy.
Epilepsy Scotland has existed for over 50 years and during that time the money we have been bequeathed has provided crucial funds for everything from service development to repairing and refurbishing our building.
Epilepsy is not going away and the demand for Epilepsy Scotland’s services continues to increase year on year. By making a gift in your will, you can help us plan for the future and carry on our vital work in your memory.
Leaving a Gift in Your Will
A gift could be a specific amount of money, a valuable item (such as a piece of jewellery or painting) or a portion of the residue of your estate. That means the amount left over after bequests to your family have been made and any other expenses have been settled.
Leaving a percentage or share of your estate, rather than a specified cash sum, is a particularly beneficial way of leaving us a gift as it will not be affected by inflation over the years.
If You Have Already Made a Will
A Will can be changed at any time and a convenient way of making small changes is to add a Codicil to it. Adding a Codicil is an easy way of leaving money to charity. It is a straightforward process, but any changes to your Will must be legally witnessed, so you must always consult your solicitor to help you.
It is always nice to hear from people who are planning to leave a legacy - if they feel comfortable telling us - as it means we can thank you personally and give you the opportunity to see what your bequest will do.
If you would like to leave us a gift in your will - large or small - please do get in touch for details. All enquiries are treated discretely and in strict confidence.
