Glasgow Wags Dinner
29 April 2010
The Marriott Hotel, 500 Argyle Street, Glasgow
The 13th Epilepsy Scotland Glasgow Wags dinner was "strictly" successful!
Our glamourous event raised over £30,000 thanks to our generous supporters, sponsors and hilarious entertainment. Our 250 guests enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal followed by witty entertainment from our four speakers: Radio Clyde 1 news editor Lorraine Herbison, ex-Rangers player Kevin Drinkell , after dinner speaker and Burns enthusiast Hugh Drennan and after dinner speaker Sylvia Kelly with Hugh Drennan being voted as this years ' Glasgow Wag of the Year '! The whole event was overseen by host, actor and writer Sanjeev Kohli, better known as Navid, the sarcastic shopkeeper in Still Game, who kept the guests and speakers in line during our exciting Grand Auction.
Our speakers were given 10 minutes each to woo the audience and win their votes, their topic being 'Strictly Speaking' . We carried the glam 'Strictly' theme throughout the evening with our 'Strictly Cosmopolitan' cocktails to sparkly individually designed table centres taking centre stage in our purple and silver themed sparkling banqueting suite.
Speaker Hugh Drennan certainly wasn’t the only winner on the night with many guests winning some fabulous tombola prizes and one lucky guest winning a brand new iPad, donated by Clicknetworks, by choosing the only key to unlock our glass safe!
