Whether or not you tell your employer that you have epilepsy is your choice. Some people prefer to tell their employer so a colleague can be shown the first aid procedure for their seizures. Their employer can also make any reasonable adjustments in line with the DDA. Other people prefer not to mention that they have epilepsy. If your epilepsy is very well controlled and you have not had a seizure for 2-3 years, you may decide you are very unlikely to have a seizure at work. There are important things to think about such as how likely you are to have a seizure and the type of work you will be doing. However, when making this decision, remember that you must tell your employer you have epilepsy if the job you do carries a health and safety risk to yourself or a colleague, if you have a seizure.
