Free travel

From April 2006, free local bus travel passes for older and disabled people will be replaced by a new Entitlement card that will allow holders to travel anywhere in Scotland on a bus for free.

Under the new scheme people aged sixty or over and disabled people will be able to travel free on ANY local bus and scheduled long distance coach services in Scotland throughout the day - including the morning rush hour.

Applying for free bus travel in Scotland

Scotland-wide free bus travel started on 1 April 2006 and allows anyone aged 60 and over, and eligible disabled people, to travel free on both local registered services and long-distance bus services within Scotland, without any peak-time restrictions. People who are unable to drive for medical reasons are eligible for the scheme.
