Epilepsy A to Z
Benefits
Having epilepsy does not automatically entitle you to benefits. Your right to benefits depends on how your epilepsy and any other conditions or illnesses you have affect your life.
People who work can receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance (AA). This is money to cover extra costs people with health conditions and disabilities may have. It does not matter how much savings you have. The DLA is intended for people under the age of 65. Attendance Allowance is for people age 65 and over.
To be entitled to these benefits you must be seen to need care. You can also show problems with mobility. Things like the type and frequency of your seizures and how they affect your life will be considered.
If you are unable to work because of your epilepsy, or other illness or disability, there are other benefits you can claim.
